The Geological Field Trip conducted on April 19, 2025, for 2nd-grade students of the Department of Chemistry, focusing on Geochemistry and Mineralogy, and led by Dr. Idrees, Mr. Hisham, Mrs. Sayran, and Mr. Burhan, provided an essential hands-on learning experience by exposing students to real-world rock formations, mineral types, and geochemical processes. This trip played a vital role in enhancing students’ observational and analytical skills, connecting theoretical classroom concepts with practical geological exploration, and encouraging interdisciplinary learning that combines chemistry, geology, and environmental science. Additionally, it offered insights into potential careers in geoscience and environmental research. Significantly, the field trip aligns with multiple United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4 (Quality Education) by offering experiential learning; SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) through the understanding of sustainable mineral use; SDG 13 (Climate Action) by highlighting geochemical processes relevant to environmental change; and SDG 15 (Life on Land) by promoting knowledge that supports land and ecosystem preservation.
