The “Assessment of Microplastic Pollution in Alana River, Sediment, and Air Environment” seminar, presented by Dr. Rebwar Nasir Dara and Shena Kawa Abdullah on May 15, 2025 in the Department of Chemistry, investigated the sources, distribution, and ecological impacts of microplastics across multiple environmental compartments, employing advanced analytical techniques to quantify pollution levels. This critical research supports SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation by addressing river pollution), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities through air quality monitoring), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption by tackling plastic waste), SDG 14 (Life Below Water by protecting aquatic ecosystems), and SDG 15 (Life on Land by analyzing soil contamination), highlighting the urgent need for multidisciplinary solutions to combat microplastic pollution and achieve environmental sustainability.
