The “Food Waste to Methane” seminar, presented by MSc. Shayma on May 8, 2025 in the Department of Chemistry, explored sustainable biogas production through anaerobic digestion of food waste, highlighting its potential as a renewable energy source and waste management solution. This research aligns with SDG 7 (affordable and clean energy through methane production), SDG 11 (sustainable cities by reducing landfill waste), SDG 12 (responsible consumption via circular economy practices), and SDG 13 (climate action by mitigating greenhouse gas emissions), demonstrating how valorizing food waste can simultaneously address energy needs and environmental challenges in line with global sustainability goals.
