Histological Study of Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma Associated with Vitamin D Receptor (VDR) Polymorphism in Erbil Governorate

SUMMARY Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) incidence rates have steadily increased over the past few decades. PTC, unlike most malignancies, is unique among malignancies because the majority of staging systems identify age as a significant prognostic indication, and the incidence of PTC is higher in women than men. Besides its classical role in bone and calcium […]

Association of Genetic polymorphism from CYP1A1*2C Variant (Ile462Val) and TP53 codon 72 in Acute and Chronic Myelogenous Leukemic Patients

SUMMARY Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) are life-threatening hematological neoplasms characterized by an uncontrolled proliferation of myeloid progenitors. The phase I metabolism response, which metabolizes xenobiotics and endogenous and exogenous DNA-reactive chemical compounds that may cause genotoxicity and raise the risk of AML and CML, is catalyzed by the cytochrome P450

Single Morph Attack Detection Using Machine Learning

ABSTRACT Automated facial recognition is increasingly used to identify individuals for various applications. However, face morphing attacks, which blend facial images of two or more people, present a security risk. Morph Attack Detection (MAD) systems have been developed in response to this threat, as Face Recognition Systems (FRS) are vulnerable to such attacks. Because of

Spatiotemporal Analysis for Environmental Impact Using Geoinformatics in Selected areas of Duhok Governorate, Kurdistan Region, Iraq

Abstract The integration of remote sensing techniques and Geographic Information System (GIS) has a wide use to quantify the spatiotemporal distribution of vegetation cover, land degradation, and rising temperature. Over the last decade, a remarkable change was noticed in climate, land degradation, and vegetation cover in Duhok. Firstly, the Modified Soil Adjusted Vegetation Index (MSAVI2)

Hydrochemistry and Geochemistry of the Stream Sediments in Sidakan-Balakyan Area, Kurdistan Region, Northern Iraq

ABSTRACT Sidakan-Balakyan River (SBR) is located near the Iranian border northeastern part of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region. This study deals with both water and stream sediment of the SBR as regards hydrochemistry and geochemistry. Hydrochemical research focuses on analyzing water’s physical and chemical characteristics and controlling factors in evaluating the water quality of the SBR.

Synthesis and Characterization of NiO Nanostructured Thin Films for Gas Sensing Applications

ABSTRACT           In this work, nanostructured Nickel Oxide thin films were successfully synthesized on glass substrates via spray pyrolysis technique.           Effects of different molarities (0.05, 0.1 and 0.2M) of hydrated nickel chloride salt precursors solution (NiCl2.6H2O) at different substrate temperatures  were optimized for constructing NiO nanostructured based gas sensor with highest gas sensitivity.

Groundwater Hydrochemistry and Hydro morphometric Analysis of Pirmam Area, Erbil, Kurdistan Region/ Iraq

ABSTRUCT Sixty-two groundwater samples were collected to evaluate chemical and physical analysis. Most of groundwater in the study area is meteoric and the kind of water for both periods is bicarbonate. Groundwater samples are suitable for drinking because all parameters are under permissible limit except Sardka well which have high nitrate concentration above permissible limit.
